ShoesDepending on where you live, and your energy costs per kilowatt. My electric cost were $90.00. With three units running 9 hours a day seven days a week, I used an additional $100.00 per unit per month. Was not expecting that amount! As to their functionality, they did what I purchased them to do.Bought this for indoor germination of mainly cannabis plants, but also other vegetable and herb plants, before I move the plants outside to my garden. It's well-made and easy to install. It comes with a nice pulley system that lets you raise and lower the light unit depending on your plants' needs/heights. I've had it plugged into a mechanical timer, which runs about an average of 16 hours a day, and this grow light has worked flawlessly for its intended purpose. I have not noticed much heat generated from it (the internal fans work well and are pretty quiet), yet it's quite bright. With that being said, I remain skeptical that this light would support the growth of a full (cannabis) plant as it's a little small in dimensionally, which I knew when purchasing, so no fault of the product. You would almost need at least 2 of these to support a full-grown plant. My only qualm with this light is that the 2-wire hanging support system makes the light want to spin/twist (seemingly towards the power cord off the backside), so it's a little annoying to line up perfectly the way you want to hang it. But, I would recommend this for someone starting out and feel this light is worth the money. If/when I move my grow operation to strictly indoors, I will likely purchase a larger light with more coverage. Word to the wise, the sunglasses are cheaply made, but definitely come in handy. If you don't wear them while tending to your plants, everything will have a greenish hue when you leave the room that the light is in.I started my growing venture with just one 1200 W light set up with my own timer. I have had no issues. As my 3 plants grew, they formed short shrubby plants with myriad leaves and a string stem(s). I added a 2nd 1000 W light (by accident I purchased 1000 instead of 1200) and my plants continued to respond well. Once I approached my 8 week mark, I purchased yet another 1200 W light then built a housing for the plants / lights. They have since doubled in size and continue to show strong signs of growth. I am not sure if it is overkill and I don't need the center 1000 W light but I am not willing to experiment at this point with less light as the plants I am growing require as much light as possible. The lights do give off a bit of radiant heat once on full spectrum. I have a common enclosed set up and these lights keep the space at or around 75-80 degrees while on. The heat is not from the cooling units as that portion is not within the box. Make sure the incoming air is in the lower 60's. I am sure if I reduce one light I would also reduce temps. As I switch to a 12/12 schedule, will see what the next phase of my growth will bring with these three lights powering over my crop. This is my 3rd and final review. I took a chance, as a new grower, to go with these LED's because of what the reviewers had suggested. Noticing there are many choices spanning several price ranges and certain brands pushed by the online community, this was my best bet as to what I thought I needed and would work and within what budget I had. TOAD isn't any 'known' brand but the feedback looked very promising. And success! After 18 long weeks of wondering what the results would be, here they are.I used 2x 1200 TOAD to veg and 2x 1200 + 1x 1000 TOAD to bloom. Each set of LEDs are contained within a 3' x 2.5' ft grow space. (These are just 2 'tester' plants. I now have 6 on the next cycle). Clearly they more than did their job. I thought I might had over done it with the lights, but the results are fantastic. Comparing the price to what I was able to grow, they are totally worth it!Great growth for my plants.Warms up even slightly enclosed areas which can be either a pro or a con depending on your unique usage environment. The extra heat was just perfect for raising the temperature to ideal for my plants during winter here in the North East US.The reason I sold this light to a friend was the intensely purple light hides the color of my plants. It's seriously purple beyond purple.Went with a higher end viparspectra panel that is white light. So if you dont Care about seeing the colors on your plants while the lights are on, then maybe this is a perfect budget solution for your needs. The hilarious spelling mistakes on the lamp specification sticker are achually hillareas.great lights easy to install and use low cost to operate.Don't believe this is 600w light. Plants that I've used This on only grew to the size it should be at 3 weeks old. my other plant on a different brand 600w light is one week older then the one this light is used on and is 10x bigger. Light distance has been 12"-18" at all times. The plant is currently in flower but looks like a waste of electricity with this light
